What is clinical health research?
1955 – Epidemiologist Thomas Francis, Jr., MD (School of Public Health) announces on April 12 that the Salk polio vaccine is “safe, effective, and potent”.  He designed and conducted the largest clinical study ever undertaken using human subjects, involving 1.8 million children at 15,000 schools in 44 states and areas of Canada and Finland.
